Anchor Transportation began in 1989 when Drs. John and Yullie Stancil set out to provide safe and dependable travel for groups. The company started with one bus, two employees, and a clear purpose. Serve people well and protect every passenger.
As demand grew, Anchor moved to Nashville to support more schools, churches, and community groups. The focus stayed the same. Prepare well, communicate clearly, and deliver reliable service for every trip.
Anchor’s leadership has always been built on hands-on experience. Jared Stancil joined the company in 1999 and learned the operation from the ground up. He began by washing buses, worked in the office, and gained a complete understanding of the work needed to run a safe and dependable service.
Today, John Stancil serves as Founder and Jared serves as CEO and President. Their partnership reflects a shared belief in steady leadership, clear standards, and service with integrity. As the company grew, additional team members, including Leigh Ann Stancil, stepped in to support higher volumes and strengthen customer service.
Anchor continued to expand through strategic acquisitions and the addition of experienced staff. The company opened a second location in Tuscumbia, Alabama, and added trip planning support for groups that needed help organizing more complex travel.
Growth remained steady. As the fleet and team expanded, Anchor invested in larger office and maintenance facilities. In 2007, the company moved into a ten-acre property in Whites Creek, Tennessee, which remains the corporate office today. Another location was added in Jackson, Tennessee, in 2013.
Anchor now operates as one of the largest family-owned motorcoach providers in the region. Each step of growth reflects the same purpose that guided the first trip in 1989. Serve people well, protect every rider, and support every group with dependable transportation.
